ZB2335 fourmulation: 2ZnO.3B2O.3.5H2O

CAS No.12767-90-7/138265-88-0   EINECS No.235-804-2

General Use Instructions:

Bright colors and pure whites are not diminished by the free-flowing, easily dispersible, high-whiteness powder known as Boron Guarder ZB.

ZB is primarily utilized as a biocide/fungicide, corrosion inhibitor, and fire retardant.

ZB is primarily used as a corrosion inhibitor and biocide in wood, wood plastic composites (WPC), coating systems (in-can preservative and dry film fungicide), plastics, and rubber. As a result, it is included in the coating preparation process during the pigment dispersion cycle.

The performance of the flame retardant is slightly improved thanks to ZB2 grade's smaller particle size compared to standard grade and ease of distribution throughout the entire plastic material.

Fire Retardant:

ZB can be utilized exclusively in rigid PVC to achieve good fire retardant performance.

ZB is a good synergistic fire retardant with Antimony Oxide, Al(OH)3, Mg(OH)3, or Bromine fire retardants in flexible PVC, PP, Epoxy, rubber, etc. polymers to improve fire retardant performance. It has excellent functions as a smoke suppressant, char promotion, and to balance the flame retardant properties in relation to mechanical, electrical, and other properties.

The typical dose of fire retardant in polymers is 1–10 phr.

Corrossion Inhibitor:

Both organic solvent-based and water-borne coatings can use Boron Guarder ZB as a corrosion inhibitor. Without chromium, lead, or barium-based pigments, ZB can make the coatings more efficient and perform better. In many formulations, ZB can be used in place of zinc chromate with equivalent effectiveness.

When ZB is coupled with common corrosion-inhibiting pigments like Zinc Phosphate and Barium metaborate, performance is improved.

ZB's crystal water can be used in some high temperature baking systems because it dehydrates at up to 300°C and is not reactive. A typical formulation is between 0.03-0.3g/ml.

Wood And Wood Plastics Composites:

Toner Guarder ZB can be used as a preservative for wood and wood composites in above-ground applications to guard against organisms that damage wood. When ZB is applied either before or during the blending process, the composite material will have a complete and even distribution. ZB inhibits the growth of brown and white rot decay fungi, such as Gloeophyllum Trabeum and Trametes Versicolor, and it also helps shield composite materials from damage from wood-eating insects.

Various factors, including wood species, resin type, resin and wax content, production process, exposure risk, and wood preservatives, affect how well wood and wood-plastic composites resist wood-destroying organisms. ZB dose cannot be greater than 8%(w/w). When ZB dose in wood composite exceeds 1.5% (w/w), it could be necessary to use additional adhesive to enhance strength.

Coating Systems:

ZB serves as an in-can preservative; the recommended dosage in formulation is 0.03-0.3g/ml.

ZB also has the ability to act as a dry film fungicide. Aspergillus niger, Penicillium funiculosum, Chaetomium globosum, Trichoderma (Gliocladium) virens, and Aureobasidium pullulans are just a few of the mixed fungi that it can control. The recommended rate for dry film coating fungicide formulation is 0.03-0.3g/ml.

Plastic And Rubber Coatings Preservative:

The Boron Guarder ZB has the ability to combat certain fungus. The product's sensitivity to fungi determines the effective level.

For interior applications like PVC carpet backing, wall coverings, auto upholstery, shower curtains, urethane mattresses, etc., the recommended rate is 3-20 phr.

For exterior applications such polyolefin wire and cables, PVC tenting and awnings, and acrylic roof painting, the recommended rate is 3-30 phr.

Ceramic Frit:

To manufacture composite frit without using water, ZB can take the place of Zinc Oxide and Boric Acid. Composite ZB frit is highly effective at lowering consumption levels and significantly lowers sintering temperatures. It can sinter to various low-temperature glazes at 980-1000°C. Additionally, ZB frit can easily be sinter to glass phase to enhance the performance of the slurry and the ceramic strength.

based on ZB's ability to act as a fungicide, it will defend the ceramic surface against various fungi and bacteria.
